Jessie's accent does stand out in group numbers. I am German and I speak four languages and I notice accents--however, I do agree that Fighter is a terrible song--though a lot of the songs everyone has been given are terrible to me--also their clothing----

Jessie is going to win though. I do not like her but she is going to win so if you like her you can go to the show--it would be difficult for me to go anyhow as I have four kids and the youngest two are under 2----

I totally agree. Jessie has been my fave from the beginning. I thought the song was terrible and shouldn't have been given to any of the girls. Jessie has proved that she's got a beautiful voice. Let's face it - Nancy doesn't have to perform anything like Fighter in the show! However, I'm coming round more to the idea of Rachel as Nancy. But then, I would have had Niamh out weeks ago, so what do I know? She's a lovely girl but she could never be Nancy - she looks all wrong and hasn't got a powerful enough voice. ALW obviously had it in for Ashley; he was inexcusably rude to her and it was obvious she wouldn't survive the sing-off even though her performance was far better than Niamh's. Sam did well but watch her sing Somewhere a few weeks back. She has no strength or control in her voice. I can't see her belting out As Long As He Needs Me. She reminds me of Siobhan in the Maria show. Jodie isn't right either. Her acting is very unconvincing for me. I think Jessie and Rachel should definitely be in the final 3 but not sure who else.

I am definitely going to be sick.

I know the area and I know the house (I think) although I was never invited as a guest of Sir John.

The Blairs will further suburbanize what is still left of `Old England`.

I have two notes from Sir John despatched from that glorious home. Both are included in the appendix of my reissue of `The Marilyn Scandal`. One is dated Christmas Eve 1985 (I think- book not in front of me)

Good point Leafy! Fighter was a disaster (for any Nancy). I feel I must correct a small but important point. On Jessie, it is said in a comment above: "...her Irishness is overpowering-Niamh and Ashley come from other parts of the UK, but they are not defined by their accents, whereas Jessie has too strong an accent." "Other parts of the UK"? I hope kingathon27 is not suggesting that Jessie is from part of the UK? I am moved to address what I hope is a simple typo. I must comment as I recently met a lovely couple from England who genuinely believed Ireland was in the UK! Bizarre stuff! Anyway, if you genuinely listen to Jessie's accent you will notice that the Irish accent does a far better job at pronouncing letters than many English accents. The letter R for example...it is in fact correctly pronounced R and not 'awe' or 'awh'. Just because you are not accustomed to an accent, this does not make it 'overpowering'. Even if accents are to be considered overpowering, surely Cockney is the most overpowering of all?

In Jessie's defence, none of the Nancys should have been given Fighter. What a terrible terrible song!!! As for the complaints about her shouting, I suggest you listen to Christina Aguilera, Grammy award winner, sing Fighter. Quite a bit of shouting, isn't there? Better yet, watch Christina Aguilera sing Fighter live on YouTube. The results are eye-opening! How about some perspective - can you imagine if Jodie or Niamh tried to sing Fighter? They would look even more ridiculous. Jessie got through because of her track record. Simply, she has put in the best performances OVERALL. As for her accent, if it was so bad, don't you think it would stick out in the group performances? Jessie for Nancy!

Both Jessie and Sam sang one of my all time favourite songs, and the latter went up in my estimation, and Jessie went down.

Sam has the best stage presence I feel; she seems the most comfortable on stage, followed by Rachel. I really like Rachel, but I think her softer more genuine side doesn't come out in her performance.

Jodie was given a boring song, yet again. But to me she's still the best. In her pitch to the Olivers she *demonstrated* her maternal side; Naimh just stood there looking out of place saying "I want to prove I have a maternal side" - no genuine maternal person would say that - their maternal instincts would shine through naturally (like Jodie). I can't believe the Olivers chose her.

Whilst Jessie may or may not be ALW's favourite, Naimh seems to be the panel's favourite, followed by 'The Isle of Sam' (LOL) That Barry Humphries is a dirty old goat by the way! But back to Naimh - WHY do the panel keep saying she has stage presence and leading lady quality??? Madness...

I agree with the above comments, especially concerning ALW's treatment of Ashley. The way it seems to me is he just didn't like her on a PERSONAL level. This unfortunately influenced every dealing he had with her which was very unprofessional of him. In life we always have some people we like more than others and we have to deal with this. I sing in a choir which has toured Europe and I also play in an orchestra and I admit that there are folk I do not care for. However, I have to work with these people and I make strenuous efforts to get along well with them. ALW does not appear to be capable of doing this. However, I am sure Ashley will get her chance as she has been so pleasant despite everything.

As for the others, well, we have Jodie, who when in a fight scene stopped to ask if her opponent was O.K., Niamh, who sang with the boys, looked about 12 while doing it and then was described by ALW as Motherly, {HUH?}, Jessie, who can't dance, has bad posture, and sounds so Irish I can't understand what she says or sings, Rachel, who isn't bad but doesn't seem to be consistent in her performances and Sam. Oh help----!!!!

I think my theory that ALW wants the show to be a flop so it doesn't take custom from HIS shows is coming true. Anyhow, I think ALW ants Jessie to win. Why else would he spout that rubbish about Nancy being Irish. He can't have read the book--as Dickens was good at writing the way folk spoke and if Nancy had been Irish it would have been obvious----

Unfortunately many of the voters appear to take head of ALW's comments.

I think the way ALW treated Ashley throughout the series was completely inexcusable and uncalled for. I don't think any artist should criticise another in a manner that is totally un-productive and rude. I think Ashley is probably much better off getting out the show and finding something else where she will be appreciated and have the chance to show her talent.

I totally, hundred percent agree. Jessie-what? how did she get through? and Jodie-oh dear me.... Rachel should have been down there too. Niamh was a worthy candidate for the bottom 2, as she is NOT Nancy-but it shouldn't have been Ashley and once she was there her fate was inevitable. Her performance of As Long As He Needs Me was fantastic-best of the series and she was oh so dignified when speaking to the evil Lord-all I can say is I am soo disappointed-I genuinely think there are no other great Nancys left.

I have to agree with most of the above. I had to watch the show on tape as I was out, so couldn't vote last night. Up till now I've voted for Jessie but didn't like last night's song one bit. However, I don't know that it was entirely her fault; it was a dreadful thing to give her - imo not a song at all just an appalling racket with no tune! I doubt any of the others could have done it, to be honest. I tend to think that if she's up against anybody but Rachel in a sing-off then ALW will save her. I thought his comment to Ashley was totally uncalled-for; I think they'd all been told to be more controversial tonight. I'm not a Rachel fan particularly; thought she was OK. Niamh is not Nancy in a million years and Samantha had an awful song. Jodie isn't Nancy for me either. If I could have voted, just on last night's performances, then I suppose I might have chosen Ashley. Looking forward to tonight!

I mostly agree with the comments above. I was very surprised when ALW said Nancy could be Irish. I thought that was rubbish and JB looked amazed--as well he might! It is obvious that ALW favors Jessie, but I think she was dreadful tonite. I couldn't understand anything in her song and that was not because I am German as I have lived away from home since I was 18.

Niamh is NOT Nancy. She is O.K. but I cannot imagine her playing Nancy. Bill Sykes would have killed her with one push--that is--if she had survived infancy---. I don't care much for Rachel but I thought she was good tonite and I think she could play Nancy.

Ashley is much better that ALW's rude comments would suggest. From the start he has made it plain he doesn't like her. When she performs he sits and scowls and tonite he was so rude it made me wonder why the panel didn't just throttle him on the spot----that would make such GREAT TV now I think about it and the viewing figures would be enormous!!

Samantha was not so good tonite I think. However, it may have been the song rather than her. She is overall very promising. Jodie has had some boring songs to sing the last two weeks, but she can act them and I think could play Nancy, although she isn't my favorite for the role.

I hope the general public get rid of Jessie as I am getting sick of her and tonite she was so big headed. We have had everything from her now--tears, moans and now total self-centered -ness. Maybe she isn't Nancy but she can certainly act as she has acted a different person each week so far.

I have a feeling though that Jessie will get through this round. If she is in the bottom two ALW will save her anyhow.

I mostly agree with the comments above. I was very surprised when ALW said Nancy could be Irish. I thought that was rubbish and JB looked amazed–as well he might! It is obvious that ALW favors Jessie, but I think she was dreadful tonite. I couldn’t understand anything in her song and that was not because I am German as I have lived away from home since I was 18.

Niamh is NOT Nancy. She is O.K. but I cannot imagine her playing Nancy. Bill Sykes would have killed her with one push–that is–if she had survived infancy—. I don’t care much for Rachel but I thought she was good tonite and I think she could play Nancy.

I have to say the show did feel a bit 'nastier' this week and so much more intense than previous weeks. From the opening footage we learn that there is clearly friction between Samantha and Rachel-as each named each other the worst Nancy, when its clear that neither of them are.... And as for some of the Lord's comments they were rude and out of character!

Jessie-Oh dear! What an absolute disaster-cocky, out of tune, shouty. In fact it was a car crash;pure and simple. She looked awful, she danced awfully, her diction was appalling! There was absolutely nothing good about this performance and her Irishness is overpowering-Niamh and Ashley come from other parts of the UK, but they are not defined by their accents, whereas Jessie has too strong an accent.

Niamh-Apart from one vocal slip-up this was a sterling vocal performance and I enjoyed it, but is she really Nancy?? I don't know-maybe she is, but I can't see it. Personally I would rather listen to her than some of the others-but she is not Nancy.

Ashley-I thought this was not a good song choice, but she did it really, really well and certainly much better than Jessie. There was absolutely no justification for the Lord's comments and they were downright rude. To me she is the best potential Nancy in the contest-not the best singer-but the best Nancy. I voted for her.

Samantha-Thought she was on top form tonight-vocally superb and a brilliant all round performance.

Jodie-Bored, bored, bored. It was boring! She sung it averagely and made a great Alicia Keys song dull-thats a real testament to her talent. She is cabaret, she would not make a good Nancy and I'm sick of her.

Rachel-After initial brilliance how the mighty have fallen-this was bland with a capital b, an absolutely average performance of a bad song.... She could even be in the bottom two again!

For me the worst two tonight were Jodie and Jessie, however if I had to predict a bottom two I would go for Rachel and Niamh and who knows who Andrew would pick after his comments tonight, I would reckon upon Niamh being sent home. I think Ashley should be safe after those disgraceful comments!

Oh and by the way James-if you're still reading-I'm so glad that the public backed me up by putting Rachel in the bottom two and once again saving Ashley-so it seems that perhaps your rants were the unsubstantiated ones...... You'll never know how happy I was to see Ashley and Niamh and Sam go through-I won!

If judging only on last Saturday's performances, I'd have Rachel and Ashley in the bottom two. Rachel because with a very 'light and easy' song, she managed to crack at the top note - and no, John, it wasn't because of emotions, it was trying so very hard to impress that she can reach the note. Ashley because I felt those come-hither looks she gave during her performance were shallow. But Ashley survived and it was Sarah who couldn't be saved by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

I tend to agree with much of what Jeanne says. I couldn't understand the bottom 2 at all this week. Although I personally can't warm to Rachel at all (don't know why - I just don't like watching her) I didn't think she deserved the sing-off. And Sarah! What's going on? She had one of the best voices. I think her song was totally wrong for her and was the main reason she went out. She did her best with it but it was a rotten choice for a woman. I would have had Niamh in there - she looks totally wrong for Nancy. Thought Ashley did a good job but I fear she's next to go. Jessie has been my fave from the beginning. As for the Olivers, I had my eye on Harry from the start so pleased he's through. Gwion is cute, but that strong Welsh accent!! It's cute but will he be able to tone it down for the stage? I also like Arthur and Jordan.

Well Rachel was appalling on Saturday-she was out of tune and even screeched on a top note-imagine if she had done that on the West End stage she would have been a laughing stock. Although Niamh was pretty bad too....

Can't believe Sarah has been voted out. The best contender - great singer/actress and plenty of charisma. Makes a mockery of the whole show - she was brilliant and I'd go and see the show if she was cast. Wouldn't go and see Jodie - too caberet - or Rachel - too 'professional' I didn't see her getting emotional when Sarah left. What is Ashley still hanging around for? All wrong!

Although I think Jessie is a good singer I noticed in the scene the girls did in the Public House that she couldn't do a cockney accent and neither could Niamh. Also, when I was young I sang in a production of Oliver and neither of these girls seem anything like Nancy to me. Nancy was a cockney who was presumably raised in a rough environment. Jessie looks more like someone who was raised in a Palace and anyhow, she has to be able to do a convincing accent and even after some weeks she can't. As for Niamh--well--- she should get removed--soon--she is good but she is not Nancy.

Rachel made a mess of her song and I have perfect pitch--so both her and Jodie made my ears hurt. Jodie is good though and I think could play the role. Samantha is my favorite, although to be honest NONE of the girls seem to me to have what it takes to be a really outstanding Nancy. They could probably all do well in some role--but Nancy--no--

However, one of them must get the part so I go for Jodie as she is the most suitable although not my favorite. When voting I try to think who could play the role--so I don't always vote for my favorite person---because you have to think of the part they have to play---.

I am thoroughly confused - how did Rachel end up in the bottom 2, whilst Niamh wasn't? Sarah must be pretty frustrated - I think she would have been saved in a sing-off against almost anyone else apart from Rachel...

I only joined this show part way through, but here are my views:

Firstly, the format boggles me -

Why has the casting vote been given to someone who has no involvement with the show? I can’t imagine a producer/director relinquishing the casting of a major part to someone indifferent. I find ALW very creepy; he makes me think of a child molester. He always seems to be available when an over-emotional Nancy candidate has an urge to hurl herself into someone’s arms. He sits on that throne like a malevolent toad.

At first I thought DVO had been put on the panel as a bit of fluff; but her comments are very intelligent and insightful – she definitely knows what she’s talking about. Whereas “Captain Jack” just makes a lot of noise.

I find the format quite repetitive; there is far more to playing a leading lady than singing pop songs. All the girls have obviously got fantastic voices, or else they wouldn’t have got this far. I feel they need to be tested more on their acting outside of the songs, and more needs to be said about how they actually move on stage. I would have liked to have seen the show focus on the ‘pub challenge’, and for the voting to have been given based on their individual performances. Even at this late stage we don’t know how good the girls’ cockney accents are!

I would also like to see more interaction with the Olivers. It surprises me that we have not yet seen a Nancy and an Oliver give a joint performance. You could have the perfect Nancy and the perfect Oliver but if they don’t work well together then the show suffers. Next week I think all the girls should get a chance to perform with the boys.

I did feel that Samantha had an unfair advantage this week, as she was given dance moves to add an extra dimension to her performance. She did very well, but I would have liked to have seen how all 7 coped with choreographed movement.

My favourite is Jodie (although I doubt she’ll win). She has vocal strength, energy and depth. She can be tough or vulnerable – I could see her throwing a grown man out of a bar, and I could see her sitting down and weeping. She is feisty, but also fun.

Here’s my thoughts on the others:

Rachael – Shouts too much. No element of fun or optimism. Oliver! would be pretty grim if she were cast.
Naimh – What is she still doing here???? Beautiful voice, but no character. Boring to watch.
Jessie – A strong contender for me.
Ashley – At first I thought she had potential and I wanted her to do well, but she is lacking something.
Samantha – Not really seen much acting from her, apart from doing sexy moves. Perhaps she could be a stripper or something…
