Who would you cast?

sheila.jpgWith news today that the venue is sorted, the dates are fixed and that you can book via The Sun newspaper, it has got me thinking: who would be your ideal cast? Here’s mine:

The Wicked Witch Of The West
Sheila Hancock would be ideal casting and it means she would get work straight after Sister Act.

Dorothy
Danielle has my vote or failing that, Stephanie.

The Cowardly Lion
John Thompson from Corrie and Cold Feet has the comic timing and the look required.

The Tin Man
Daniel Boys, simply because he can act and sing and it would be great to see him in the West End again.

The Scarecrow
Adam Garcia has the moves and following his turn in Wicked, he has the Oz connection.

The Good Witch
She was great in Hairspray in the West End and Evita on tour and I can picture her in this role.  Therefore Rachael Wooding is my Good Witch.

The Wizard
If I had any influence – Stephen Fry would be perfect but Griff Rhys Jones would be a great addition to the cast following his excellent Fagin in Oliver, as he could nail the eccentricities really well.

Aunt Em
I love Joanna Riding and could watch her singing songs from Gone With The Wind, Too Close To The Sun or even Carrie! So even though the part is too small for her, it would be great to see her back in London, following her scene stealing performances at Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre.

Right, I’ve shown you mine, so where’s yours?
