Calendar Girls - 29 April 2009

A great evening’s entertainment was had by the Whatsonstage.com theatregoers that attended last night’s performance of Tim Firth’s stage adaptation of his 2003 screenplay Calendar Girls.

This very British tale of five extraoridnary women in the Yorkshire Dales is handled with laughter and heart by the five female leads including Lynda Bellingham and Patricia Hodge. Having enjoyed this poignant and quirky tale we were treated to an amusing Q&A with Tim Firth himself.

Edited highlights from this Q&A will appear in the news section of the site shortly and are definitely worth a look. Firth talks about writing the screenplay and adapting it for the stage, the Women’s Institute and his experience of it, and of course nakedness on stage!

Please do feel free to email your comments and thoughts about the play, as well as any photos you have of the event and the evening through to feedback@whatsonstage.com, we love to hear from you.

Thanks for joining us for this event, and do check the homepage to keep up to date on all of our upcoming Outings.

Thank you so much for this coverage! I am in the US and hoped there would be something reported about the night. Tim has done some work that I’ve really enjoyed and to read about his process with this story and show was just thrilling.

    Thank you for publishing it.
