Week 4: Results

The best bits of I’d Do Anything are the cutaways to Andrew’s frowning face as one of the girls hits a bum note. He looked totally blank as Francesca sang, smiling like a five year old opening birthday presents as Niamh did her number, and sighed as Ashley walked across the stage. A hint of things to come later?

Kerry Ellis from the hit show Wicked helped the Nancys get ready to perform in front of the show’s matinee audience. The audience (well, the producers really) pointed out Keisha, Rachel and Jessie. Jodie and Francesca both received mixed comments. Jodie mentioned that this was a “snippet of my dream!” She really should jump ship to X Factor!

Cut to Andrew in zany sunglasses looking like a blue-bottle fly, as the girls sing an awful “Viva Las Vegas” looking like flowery ironing boards in their hideous costumes! ‘The fly’ singles Sarah out as impressive. John says Ashley and Barry likes Jessie and Samantha. DVO agrees and says Samantha.

The panel are asked who is not Nancy and they pick the following:

John and DVO both would send Keisha home, yet Barry goes out on a limb and says Francesca.

The results come in and my fave, Rachel is first through, followed by the feisty Sarah. Keisha (poor love) is manipulated by being told she “might be” in the sing-off. Jodie is through and does her usual “My god! Thank you so much” like a Big Brother contestant talking to her fans, from the house via dialogue! Jessie is also through.

First shock for John and Denise is that Francesca is in the bottom two. Keisha is told she is through- getting the tears that the producers wanted by keeping her waiting in limbo. This leaves Ashley also in the bottom two.

The poor red-head hears Graham say that there is “still hope” and thinks to herself ‘whatever’ as Andrew is not a fan. The two sing “Whistle Down The Wind.” Ashley’s nerves mean vocally she is not perfect, although there is a restrained quality to her voice which suits the song, perfectly.

Francesca has power but there is something about her performance which leaves me cold. Andrew describes this as his “toughest call.” Why is he on American Idol instead then?

Everyone (including me) thinks that they know who he is going to save. Then he utters that he will keep…………..

ASHLEY!

Cue: Shocked Francesca as she murders the closing number and marches off into the distance.

There was something about Fran which did not quite click with viewers. Many say it’s because she was a pro. But I disagree. Often she was out of tune and gave performances which looked desperate and over-acted. Rachel is a pro but comes across completely different. So, my money is back on Rachel to win now.

But, well done Ashley for getting through as she seems like a nice lass and it is nice to see the Lord gave her another chance. I hope she gets a decent song and stylists leave her alone!

Its a relief Fran is gone.
Her massive support(from people who work sat nights so dont vote) always seemed larger than her talent.
It was difficult to watch a ‘pro’ melt quite so badly.
Lets hope Ashley gets a bit of support, theres something there, we saw it in rehearsal the past 2 weeks.

Sarah or Niamh to win for me .
