On January 28 Whatsonstage.com took 150 Theatregoer club members to see the National Theatre’s acclaimed production of Much Ado About Nothing. Directed by Nicholas Hytner and starring Simon Russell Beale and Zoe Wanamaker, the production has become one of this seasons hottest tickets. Our Theatregoers were able to enjoy a free drink during the interval and were lucky enough to be offered the last minute opportunity to attend a post show Q&A with principal cast members.

We had an overwhelming response to this Outing, with all 150 tickets selling out to club members in a matter of days. The rush was well deserved and an enjoyable evening was had by all.

Our Theatregoers were treated to an energetic three hour performance of the Shakespeare classic. Following the ups and downs of life after a civil war, Much Ado About Nothing explores relationships, loyalty and forgiveness through the turbulent love of two very different couples. Simon Russell Beale and Zoe Wanamaker play Beatrice and Benedick, while Daniel Hawksford and Susannah Fielding play Claudio and Hero.

After the show and a free interval drink in one of the National’s bars, our Theatregoers were treated to an exclusive Q&A, a fantastic last minute addition to the evening which was warmly welcomed by our members. It was a fantastic opportunity to quizz the cast on their preformances, their thoughts on Shakespeare and working at the National. Theatregoers were thrilled to be offered the opportunity to talk to all four of the lovers, Simon Russell Beale, Zoe Wanamaker, Daniel Hawksford and Susannah Fielding. All of them were extrememly friendly and welcoming and shared some interesting thoughts on the production.
