Present Laughter Outing
On Monday night WhatsOnStage.com hosted an Outing to Present Laughter at The National Theatre. One of Noel Coward’s most successful stage plays, Present Laugher had our theatregoers in stitches. The after show reception had near complete cast attendance and WhatsOnStage.com audience members had a chance to mingle with Alex Jennings, Sara Stewart and many others as they sipped on their complimentary wine and beer.
While enjoying their top price seats, our 120 lucky theatregoers were treated to a high energy performance of the play Coward claimed to have written in a single weekend. The play follows Gary Essendine, who is the complete actor - self-obsessed, talented, sexy and charming, as he prepares for his trip to Africa. Haunted by the trauma of turning 40 he goes in for a string of one-night stands and casual flings but with so many under his spell he finds himself trapped in a position even he can’t charm his way out of.
After the show our theatregoers enjoyed a complimentary drink in the Terrace Cafe as they mingled with cast members including Alex Jennings, Sara Stewart, Sarah Woodward, Tim McMullan, Anny Tobin, Amy Hall, Lisa Dillon and Frances Jeater and other members of the company. Many of you used the opportunity to ask questions about the show and what it was like to perform on stage at the National Theatre.
The evening was a great success, with many of you taking the opportunity to chat with the cast, get programmes signed and take pictures. Many of the cast commented on how lovely it was to meet and talk to some of the WhatsOnStage.com theatregoers.
